Research Interests: I am studying the Molecular Mechanisms of neurodegeneration through combined power of genetic mouse models and single-cell genomic technologies. Specifically, I am working to understand the impact of polyglutamine expansions in a model of Spinocerebellar Ataxia Type 7 with snRNA-seq and snATC-seq assays to discover dysregulated gene regulatory pathways in neuronal and glial populations. I have developed a novel Purkinje-cell enrichment method to help study this important cell type, which has led to our discovery of Zebrin dysregulation at the center of SCA7 Purkinje Cell pathology. I hope to continue my research career leveraging state of the art genomic technologies to better understand genetic diseases and discover new pathways for drug development.
