Speaker:

Johnna Frierson and Avery August
Avery August, the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Professor and professor of immunology, in the College of Veterinary Medicine at Cornell University serves as Deputy Provost. Working with Associate Vice Provost Yael Levitte on a range of faculty development and diversity policies, programs and initiatives, he oversees faculty recruitment and hiring strategies, and provides leadership in department chairs and associate deans training. He also manages the faculty dual career program as well as the Provost's program for diversity hiring, and serves as the Provost's liaison for the Faculty Committee on Program Review which oversees department reviews. At this seminar, we will discuss the strategies and insights Dr. August has gained through leading these efforts and his perspective on creating inclusive environments in academia.
