It is the preeminent undergraduate award of its type in these fields.
Peer, a student in the Heitman lab, currently studies chemistry. She aims to pursue a PhD in molecular microbiology with an emphasis on infectious diseases, researching cellular mechanisms governing host-pathogen interactions while advancing STEM education in rural communities.
