Alumni Spotlight: Nandan Gokhale

Nandan Gokhale, PhD, has established his lab as an assistant professor in the Division of Immunobiology at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center. Gokhale is interested in how RNA biology regulates and is regulated by innate immunity and viral infection. His lab will study how RNA-protein interactions impact immune signaling complexes.

Gokhale was a Duke MGM PhD student in the lab of Stacy Horner, PhD, from 2013 to 2019, where he studied the RNA modification N6-methyladenonsine at the viral-host interface. He then pursued postdoctoral studies in the lab of Ram Savan, PhD, in the Department of Immunology at the University of Washington where he was a Helen Hay Whitney Postdoctoral Fellow and an NIAID K99/R00 Pathway to Independence awardee.
