Dr. Li Lan, MD, PhD from Harvard Medical School will be presenting a seminar on her research program studying the mechanisms by which human cells maintain genome stability against oxidative and replication stresses and new ways to target these pathways in cancer therapy. Her laboratory applies cutting-edge imaging, biochemical, and molecular genetic approaches to interrogate the molecular bases of DNA damage and repair. Most recently, her work focuses on the role of RNA, RNA modifications, and R-loop processing in DNA damage resolution and homologous recombination, and how mRNA-mediated repair protects transcribed genomic regions. Her work further explores how telomeres are protected in the context of cancer cell survival and cancer therapy.
