Research Interests: Host microbe interactions
When I first came to Duke, I was very interested in signal transduction pathways. I came in through CMB which allowed me to pursue my interests in many different fields. I joined the lab of Raphael Valdivia where I really became interested in host microbe interactions. I now study the way Chlamydia trachomatis modifies its host via the secretion of bacterial proteins.
Outside of lab, I tend to spend my time doing a variety of things with my very spoiled dog Mendelynn. We are active hikers, swimmers, and runners and pretty much just enjoy being outside. Other than that I love to cook and bake and spend time reading and watching movies.
