Research Interest: Cell cycle and transcription regulation
Hi, my name is Roketa Sloan, and I am from Sumter, SC. I received my BS in Pre-Medicine from Saint Augustine’s College in Raleigh, NC in 2005. I took two years off to work in a clinical lab in Duke University Hospitals before realizing I wanted to do research. I then went on to pursue an MS in Biology at North Carolina Central University where I studied a novel heat shock gene, l(2)dtl, and the role it plays as a cell cycle regulator. I came to Duke University because of the vast majority of research opportunities. My research interests are cell cycle and transcription regulation. I am currently rotating in Dr. Sue Jinks-Robertson’s lab where we are looking at the role of pol in transcription-associated mutagenesis.
