Research Interest: My primary research interest is in the gastrointestinal microbiota, and how it relates to host health. I completed my master’s degree in biology at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where I studied the role of fungi in the gut relating to food-borne illness, antifungal drug use, and anorexia nervosa. In the Valdivia lab, I will be focusing on Akkermansia muciniphila and the role that it may play in gastrointestinal health and disease.

Personal Interests: I spend my free time reading, cooking, brewing coffee, and playing video games.
