Research Interest: Developmental and stem cell biology
I am from a small town named Lamoine, Maine. I graduated from the University of Maine in 2011 with a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology. During this time, I was lucky enough to work at Hannover Medical School in Hannover, Germany to complete my undergraduate thesis looking at actin dynamics in podocytes. I also worked at The Jackson Laboratory studying medulloblastoma. My experiences led me to pursue a Ph.D. in the Developmental and Stem Cell Biology Program at Duke University. I joined Dr. Debra Silver’s lab in May of 2012 where I am examining the effect that Magoh, a component of the exon junction complex, has on mitotic spindle integrity and orientation in the brain.
