INTERESTS:

Research Interest: My primary research interest is in human brain evolution. My work combines techniques from comparative genomics, computational molecular evolution, and developmental neuroscience to investigate how the neurodevelopmental gene regulatory architecture has changed in the human evolutionary lineage to give rise to the human-specific phenotypes of enhanced cognition, neocortical expansion, and language.

Personal Interests: Outside the lab, I enjoy performing as a freelance jazz pianist in the Raleigh-Durham area.
