Research Interest: Virology, Host Immune Response, Cancer Biology, Infectious Disease

Personal Interests: I grew up in a small coastal town in Connecticut and have loved the ocean my entire life. I decided to attend UNC Wilmington to pursue Marine Biology however after taking Genetics and Molecular Biology, I changed my major to Biology and began to pursue a career in Microbiology. I was a member of the UNCW Honors Program and I completed an independent research project as well as authoring and defending a thesis. Due to the aquatic nature of UNCW, I did my research on the blue crab, looking at seasonal variation in circulating molt hormones. Shortly after graduation, I started working in the Luftig Lab to pursue my passion, the study of viruses, the immune system, and infectious disease.

I started playing ultimate frisbee in college and I currently play for a mixed club team based out of Raleigh, NC. I spend most weekends out hiking and exploring with my boyfriend and two wonderful dogs. I also enjoy painting, mostly nature, with oils and watercolors. I still love the ocean, and occasionally make it out to Wilmington to enjoy a day at the beach.
