Micah Luftig, PhD – Donations

research • biography • lab members • alumni • publications

Thank you for your interest in our research. You may have heard about our work from reading a press release about our research article that was published in Cell Host and Microbe. This work has contributed greatly to our understanding of the process by which Epstein-Barr virus infection triggers the infected cell to prevent transformation, and ultimately, tumorigenesis (or EBV-associated cancers). We are actively seeking to understand further mechanistic details of this process towards defining the shared features with other cancer-causing viruses and oncogenes. Importantly, we have established collaborations to study this response in EBV-positive lymphomas and would ultimately like to define therapeutic targets based on these findings that may eradicate these cancers.
