Molecular Mycology and Pathogenesis Training Program (MMPTP)

The Molecular Mycology and Pathogenesis Training Program (MMPTP) is funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases of the NIH and provides postdoctoral research training and support for trainees with the Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree. Trainees must be US citizens or permanent residents. The program involves 26 faculty members and three regional universities — Duke University, North Carolina State University, and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The program offers basic or clinical research training in several areas of fungal research, including molecular mechanisms of human or plant fungal pathogenesis, fungi as model system organisms, fungal genomics, molecular systematics, population genetics, antifungal chemotherapy, and clinical mycology.
