Patel Appointed to HHMI Summer Scholars Program

Durham, N.C. (March 2006) -- Sweta Patel, an undergraduate student in the Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology at the Duke University Medical Center, has been invited to participate in the Howard Hughes Summer Scholars program this summer.  

This program offers students the opportunity for introductory or advanced research in genomics, bioinformatics or in related areas such as computational biology as well as ethics and policy concerning the social impact of genomics. Patel's research project for the program will be completed with her mentor, Joseph Heitman, M.D., Ph.D.
