Hsueh Receives Genetics Society of America (GSA) DeLill Nasser Award

Durham, N.C. (January 2008) – Yen-Ping Hsueh, a graduate student in the Heitman lab, Department of Molecular Genetics and Microbiology, Duke University Medical Center, was selected to receive a Genetics Society of America (GSA) DeLill Nasser Award for Professional Development in Genetics. Hsueh is currently doing research on the genetic and molecular control of mating type and cell fate transitions in the human fungal pathogen, Cryptococcus neoformans.

The award is named in memory of Dr. DeLill Nasser, who was a GSA member and program director for Eukaryotic Genetics at NSF. More than $10,000 in total was distributed to four graduate students and four post-doctoral researchers to attend meetings and courses in 2008.
