Eads Receives HHMI Research Training Fellowship

May 2004 — Emily Eads, a medical student at Duke University Medical Center, has received an HHMI Research Training Fellowship to work in the laboratory of Joseph Heitman, MD, PhD beginning in August 2004.

The fellowship provides $34,000 in support in the form of a stipend, a research allowance, and a fellow’s allowance for one year. Emily is one of 64 promising young physician-scientists-in-training who will receive the fellowship this year.

HHMI’s medical student fellowships are awarded to students enrolled in medical and dental programs in the United States and are intended to strengthen and expand the nation’s pool of medically trained researchers. The fellowships provide funds to support fellows and meet their research- and education-related expenses.
