I received my B.S. degree in Biology from Indiana University and my M.S. degree in Molecular Biology and Genetics from Purdue University.   At Purdue University I managed a plant genomics lab and provided technical support for research projects involving analysis of gene and genome structure and function in maize, sorghum and rice. After I received my M.S. degree, I joined the Microbial Group at Paradigm Genetics, Inc. where I participated in the development of a fungicide and antifungal target discovery platform. Later, I moved to the Experimental Biology group where I worked on developing in vitro cell-based assays as part of the biomarker discovery platform to predict drug and chemical-induced toxicity. I joined the Heitman lab in July 2006.
