Anthony Moore

Hello, I'm Anthony. Matriculating at Duke was a return to North Carolina for me since I call Charlotte my hometown though I was a military brat in my childhood. I left the state to complete a B.S. in Evolutionary Biology at Rice and spent an additional year working at a Houston biotech company, Seqwright. My research background varies from an ecological study of an invasive apple snail species to population genetics survey of a Ugandan rat population. Perhaps it is not surprising that my scientific interests focus on locating those ecologically and/or evolutionary important variations in phenotypes or behaviors and locating the variations at the regulatory, genetic and developmental level that lead to those variations. My passion remains in ecology and evolutionary biology with a fundamental molecular focus.

Thus, Duke was an easy choice. The flexibility of the program and the vast expanses of strong labs it offered was a gift for someone like me who hadn't quite focused on a particular system and didn't want to be forced to choose between the two spectrum of biology. Outside of biology, I enjoy the outdoors, cycling, being an amateur beer connoisseur and generally exploring anything that might be interesting or a new experience.
