I am an undergraduate student majoring in Biology at Duke University in the class of 2010. I joined the Luftig lab in May 2009 and am currently working with the post-doctoral fellow Eleonora Forte to understand the role of miR34a in EBV-induced B cell transformation. miR34a is up-regulated by EBV in B cells and is important for growth and cell aggregation in LCLs. We have looked at a list of potential targets for this microRNA and identified several that seem to be down-regulated by miR34a. We are currently looking at how miR34a may regulate cell aggregation.
