Laura Simone

I am originally from New Jersey, where I studied Molecular Biology and Chemistry at Montclair State University. As an undergraduate, I worked in the laboratories of David Zacharias at the Whitney Laboratory for Marine Bioscience, UF in 2007, Ashley Chi at Duke in 2008, and Nevan Krogan at UCSF in 2009. I earned my BS in 2010 and came to Duke through the University Program in Genetics and Genomics that same year. I am currently studying protein-RNA dynamics in Jack Keene's lab, and I am particularly interested in understanding how networks of functionally related mRNAs are co-regulated by RNA binding proteins to coordinate the progression from a normal epithelial cell type to a fully transformed tumorigenic phenotype.
