Research Interests

Fibroblast growth factor receptor 2 (FGFR2) is a tyrosine kinase receptor that is alternatively spliced to form two isoforms, IIIb and IIIc, which are characteristic of epithelial and mesenchymal cells, respectively. The splicing of this receptor is a very useful marker of epithelial-mesenchymal transitions, a phenotypic change that takes place during development, wound healing, and cancer metastasis. My work is focused on developing and testing FGFR2 isoform-specific antibody-like proteins, which may have utility as research reagents, prognostic tools and therapeutics.
