Research Interests
I joined the Garcia-Blanco lab in March, 2012. My husband has been temporarily posted to Singapore, so I am on a two-year leave of absence from my position at the Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, in the city of Guelph in Ontario, Canada. At Guelph, I work as the lab manager and technician in the research laboratory of Dr. Shayan Sharif and Dr. Bonnie Mallard. Dr. Sharif’s research interests include examination of host immune response in the chicken to viral as well as bacterial pathogens. In recent years, our lab has also developed a research program looking at novel vaccine strategies against viral agents, including the use of virosomes and immune modulating molecules. Dr. Mallard’s group is interested in developing techniques for early selection of high immune response food animals as a way of improving livestock health, reducing use of therapeutics and reducing production costs.

At Duke-NUS, I am helping the research team looking at the role of human host proteins in the life cycle of dengue virus. Currently, working with Alex Ward, examining 3’-5’ exonucleases and other exosome components.

We are enjoying exploring Singapore and the opportunity to visit other neighbouring countries.
