I am currently a Duke sophomore and joined the Coers lab in June through the Howard Hughes Research Fellows Program. During the eight weeks I spent full-time over the summer, I learned a ton about lab procedures, how the innate immune response identifies pathogens, and where the lab is going in the future. I am now continuing with the project that I started in the summer program in this lab. As an undergraduate student, the workload between classes and lab time is definitely a difficult balance. Outside of this, I also make time for playing clarinet in marching and pep band, and walks through the Gardens whenever I get the chance.
